The Ghana Swimming Association has announced Team Ghana for the 16th Africa Junior Swimming Championships. The event will be held at Cairo International Stadium from April 30 to May 3, 2025. Coach Kenneth Ankrah will lead the team, which includes local and diaspora swimmers. This lineup highlights Ghana’s growing presence in international swimming.
The squad consists of eight swimmers competing in various events. Oduma Agyei will swim in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, and 100m Butterfly. Yemen Bozuma Cornie is set for the 800m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, and 200m Breaststroke.
Johnson Gyarko will compete in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Breaststroke events. Jada Yankey, a diaspora swimmer, will swim in multiple events including Freestyle and Breaststroke. Tamba Akin Boamah from Canada will participate in several Freestyle and Breaststroke races.
Jacob Kaleem from Washington, USA, will compete in both Butterfly and Freestyle events. Michael Crabbe-Mann is slated for the 200m IM and various Butterfly and Backstroke races. Rihana Yankey will also swim in multiple events including Medley and Freestyle.
The team reflects Ghana’s efforts to utilize its global talent pool. Jada Yankey and Rihana Yankey from the UK, Jacob Kaleem from the USA, and Tamba Akin Boamah from Canada will join directly in Egypt. The locally based swimmers will depart from Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
The championships aim to bring together young talent across Africa. This event offers Team Ghana a chance to compete against top athletes while building on the country’s aquatics legacy.
