George Afriyie, former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, expressed concern over Ghana's failure to qualify for both the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco and the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Ghana's loss to Nigeria in the CHAN qualifiers and the Black Stars' failure to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON marked a disappointing chapter, as it will be the first time in over 20 years that Ghana misses the tournament.
Afriyie criticized the team’s poor performance in the qualifiers, finishing last in both Group E and Group F.
In an interview with Citi Sports, he called the situation "worrying," highlighting the absence of Ghana from major African football events.
The Black Stars will face crucial World Cup qualifiers in March against Chad and Madagascar, with Coach Otto Addo’s future uncertain.
