Promising Ghanaian defender Mohammed Umar played a pivotal role in FC Politehnica Iasi's 2-1 comeback victory against Sănătatea Cluj in the Cupa României.
The former Ghana U-20 player was included in the starting lineup for the match at Stadionul Clujana.
The home team took the lead in the 36th minute through Laley Fofana. However, FC Politehnica Iasi regrouped after halftime, equalizing in the 47th minute with a goal from Robert Miskovic.
Just five minutes later, Umar scored the decisive goal, securing the team’s first away win in the league cup and boosting their chances of qualification.
Umar played the full 90 minutes, showcasing his defensive prowess and goal-scoring ability. The victory places FC Politehnica Iasi in second position with four points from two games. Umar recently joined the club from Finnish side Ilves.
