Ghanaian players abroad: Kudus gets assist against Bournemouth as Sulemana suffers historic relegation

Ghanaian players in Europe are learning their fates as the season ends. Relegation and European qualification are at stake.

Ernest Nuamah's season may have ended abruptly due to injury.

Here’s a summary of their performances over the weekend:

England

Kamaldeen Sulemana got his first assist of the season for Southampton. However, they lost 3-1 to Tottenham. This defeat confirmed Southampton's relegation with seven games left. It is the earliest relegation in Premier League history.

Sulemana has one goal and one assist this league season. He will face relegation with Southampton again, having experienced it two seasons ago.

Mohammed Kudus ended a 14-game drought by assisting in West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. He has three goals and two assists in 25 league matches. His last goal was three months ago against Brighton on December 21, 2024.

Antoine Semenyo played the entire match for Bournemouth. Thomas Partey remained on Arsenal's bench during their 1-1 draw against Everton, hurting their title hopes.

Spain

Inaki Williams played the full match as Athletic Club drew goalless with Villarreal.

Defender Joseph Aidoo returned from injury, playing 30 minutes for Real Valladolid. They lost 4-0 to Getafe after he had been sidelined for over a month.

France

Winger Ernest Nuamah left Lyon’s match against Lille after just seven minutes. Lyon won 2-1, but there are concerns about a possible ligament rupture for Nuamah.

He had been performing well, scoring six goals and providing two assists in 2025 for club and country.

Andre Ayew came on late in Le Havre’s match against Montpellier. He played the final 16 minutes as they won 2-0, lifting them out of the relegation zone.

Denmark

Midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi had a standout performance for Nordsjaelland despite their loss to Copenhagen. They lost the match 1-0 in the Danish league.
