Latif Abubakar is the CEO of Globe Productions. He is preparing for his 20th theatre production, titled ‘Ghana Must Go’.
This production is a partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. It also involves the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ‘Ghana Must Go’ is part of the Black Star Experience initiative by the Government of Ghana.
The launch took place on May 15, 2025, at Pelican Hotel in Accra. During the event, Abubakar shared Globe Productions' successes over the past fifteen years.
He stated that they have produced nineteen powerful shows that inspire and entertain audiences worldwide. The new play, ‘Ghana Must Go’, tells the full story of Ghana: who we are and what we offer.
Last year, they made history by taking Ghanaian theatre to Europe. Their first theatrical expedition was in Madrid, Spain. The event sold out and welcomed twenty-nine ambassadors.
Abubakar highlighted this as proof of storytelling's power and demand for authentic Ghanaian content. In 2020, during the pandemic, they staged a virtual play about COVID-19.
With support from health and information ministries, it reached over 3.5 million views globally. They aimed to celebrate nature and culture through a new tradition called theatre on a cruise.
Abubakar remains optimistic about promoting Ghana through ‘Ghana Must Go’.
