Guirassy stars as Dortmund see off Sporting

Serhou Guirassy scored his 10th Champions League goal of the season as Borussia Dortmund secured a 3-0 win over Sporting in their knockout phase play-off first leg.

Guirassy's header on the hour mark tied him with Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski for most goals in a single European campaign by a Dortmund player. He later assisted Pascal Gross for the second goal, before Karim Adeyemi sealed the win with a well-worked counter-attack.

Sporting, struggling since Ruben Amorim’s departure, missed several chances, including Maximiliano Araujo’s shot hitting the crossbar.

Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel made key saves, while top scorer Viktor Gyokeres had little impact off the bench. Niko Kovac secured his first win as Dortmund manager ahead of the return leg on 19 February.
