Haaland to see specialist for ankle injury

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will see a specialist. He suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s FA Cup win against Bournemouth. The club expects him to play again this season.

Haaland was substituted in the 61st minute after scoring the equaliser. City went on to beat Bournemouth 2-1 and reached the semi-finals.

Later, he was seen leaving the Vitality Stadium on crutches. His left ankle was in a protective boot, as shown in a social media video.

On Monday, City said they anticipate Haaland "will be fit to play" again this season. This includes participation in this summer's FIFA Club World Cup.

The club explained that Haaland had tests before being referred to a specialist. They want to understand "the full extent of the injury."

Haaland missed a penalty and two big chances on Sunday. However, he scored from Nico O'Reilly's cross to level the game. Omar Marmoush then put City ahead as they progressed to the last four.

The FA Cup is City's only remaining chance for silverware this season. They have faced challenges in the Premier League and exited early from both the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

Manager Pep Guardiola has dealt with injuries to key players all season. Currently, his team sits fifth in the Premier League, just one point behind Chelsea for Champions League qualification.
