Manchester United will cut up to 200 jobs as part of a "transformation plan" to restore profitability after five consecutive years of financial losses.
This follows 250 redundancies last year under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Chief executive Omar Berrada announced the layoffs, expected to take 3-4 months, as United faces a £27.7m quarterly loss and over £300m in losses over three years.
Additional cost-cutting includes scrapping free staff lunches and relocating some employees.
Matchday ticket prices have risen, and Ratcliffe is considering rebuilding or replacing Old Trafford.
United, currently 15th in the Premier League, risk missing the Champions League, which could further impact finances. Winning the Europa League remains their best chance to qualify and avoid a £10m Adidas sponsorship reduction.
