Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority Leader in Ghana's Parliament, has urged Indonesia to consider establishing an Islamic medical university in northern Ghana. Speaking during a recent engagement with Indonesia’s Minister of Education and Culture, Iddrisu emphasized the need for enhanced educational opportunities in the region, particularly in healthcare. He highlighted that such an institution would not only address the growing demand for medical professionals but also promote Islamic values through education.
Iddrisu pointed out that northern Ghana faces significant challenges related to healthcare access and quality, underscoring the potential impact of a dedicated medical university on local communities. By fostering collaboration between Indonesia and Ghana, he believes this initiative could lead to improved health outcomes and economic development in the area.
The proposal aligns with broader efforts to enhance educational infrastructure and healthcare services across Ghana, particularly in underserved regions. Iddrisu's appeal reflects a commitment to leveraging international partnerships to achieve sustainable growth and improve living standards for residents in northern Ghana.
