Oaks FC, the women's team of Accra Hearts of Oak, has made history. They gained promotion to the Ghana Women's Premier League for the 2025–26 season.
Coach Mercy Tagoe and her team extended their unbeaten streak. They defeated Rootz Sistas 4-1 in the Championship playoffs. This victory secured their place in next season’s league.
With one match left in the playoffs, Oaks FC played like champions. Fati Ibrahim opened the scoring with a powerful free-kick in the 8th minute. Victoria Yeboah then scored a second goal, thrilling Oaks FC supporters at Senya Braku AstroTurf Stadium.
In the 33rd minute, Amanda Mills added a third goal. Nuratu Iddrisu managed to score for Rootz Sistas in the 53rd minute. Sarafina sealed the win with a penalty kick that confirmed their victory.
Despite Rootz Sistas' consolation goal, Oaks Ladies dominated the match. Their tactical discipline and determination showed they deserved this win and promotion.
This result confirms Oaks FC as one of two teams from their zone to qualify for the Ghana Women’s Premier League. This is a significant achievement after just two years since Oaks FC was founded by Accra Hearts of Oak's leadership.
With one game remaining, they can look forward confidently to next season's competition. The final match is against Samartex Ladies, who also qualified by defeating Essiam Socrates FC. The game will take place on Friday afternoon at 3 PM.
