Hearts of Oak begin talks to sign former Nsotreman winger Stephen Diyou

Accra Hearts of Oak are in talks with Stephen Diyou. He is a former winger for Nsotreman FC. The club aims to strengthen its squad for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Sources say preliminary discussions are happening between Diyou’s representatives and Hearts management. The 23-year-old had a strong season with Nsotreman before leaving earlier this year. Newly appointed head coach Aboubakar Ouattara sees him as a key target.

Ouattara wants to revamp the team after a disappointing season. He aims to add youthful energy and attacking skills, which Diyou possesses. Known for his speed and dribbling, Diyou scored five goals and provided several assists last season.

Diyou is currently a free agent, making him an attractive option financially. However, Hearts may face competition from two other Ghana Premier League teams and clubs in North Africa.

Club sources indicate that Ouattara plans to use Diyou in a wide role. This could be within either a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation. Diyou is reportedly interested in joining Accra Hearts of Oak, seeing it as a career advancement.

While no deal has been finalized yet, both sides are optimistic about reaching an agreement before the transfer window opens in June.

Hearts of Oak are preparing for a busy off-season ahead. Club president Togbe Afede XIV supports efforts to restore the club’s former glory after missing out on the top four last season. Signing Stephen Diyou could signal the start of significant changes to the squad.
