Hearts of Oak close in on former Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso

Accra Hearts of Oak are close to signing former Ghana international midfielder Mubarak Wakaso, 34, on a short-term deal to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.

Wakaso, known for his tough style and excellent passing, has been a free agent since leaving Chinese Super League side Shenzhen FC in January 2024.

He briefly returned to Shenzhen in mid-2023 after a loan spell at Belgian club KAS Eupen, where he played 10 matches.

Wakaso has extensive experience with top European clubs like Villarreal, Espanyol, Celtic, and Deportivo Alaves, and has represented Ghana 70 times.

His arrival could provide Hearts with valuable leadership and boost their league title ambitions.
