Bundesliga club Hoffenheim have signed 22-year-old Nigerian striker Gift Orban from Lyon for a reported €9 million.
Orban, who joined Lyon from Genk in January 2024, impressed with 32 goals in 52 games for the Belgian club. Despite only playing 259 minutes for Lyon this season, scoring two goals in five matches, Lyon sold him due to financial struggles, reportedly for less than they paid Genk.
Hoffenheim’s managing director, Andreas Schicker, praised Orban’s pace, depth, and goal-scoring ability, believing he will add more attacking variety. Lyon, facing potential relegation to Ligue 2, have seen multiple departures, with Orban being the third, following Anthony Lopes and Jeffinho’s exits.
