Hohoe United has made history by promoting to the Ghana Premier League. They defeated Inter Allies 3-1 on the second-to-last weekend of the Division One League Zone III season. This achievement is significant for Hohoe United, a team from the Volta Region. The club recently emerged on the national stage after Liberty Professionals left competitive league football in 2023. New owners, led by Hohoe MP John-Peter Amewu, acquired Liberty’s Division One slot.
The Ghana Football Association approved the name change to Hohoe United after receiving legal documents. Under this change, the club retains all rights and obligations of Liberty Professionals.
Hohoe United has performed impressively with 22 wins out of 29 games. Their organized play and consistent performances have stood out this season. Meanwhile, their closest rivals, Port City, dropped points against True Democracy. This result made it impossible for them to catch up.
