Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, has condemned hooliganism in football following the tragic murder of Asante Kotoko fan, Nana Pooley.
Pooley was fatally stabbed during a match against Nsoatreman FC at Nana Kronmansah Park. Adams urged clubs to enhance their corporate structures to attract sponsorships, warning that brands avoid violent associations.
He emphasized that eliminating hooliganism is crucial for the Premier League’s reputation.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested six suspects, including Nsoatreman FC owner, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, in connection with the murder. Adams called for urgent measures to make Ghanaian football safer and more appealing to investors.
