Hundreds hit streets of Accra for Ignite Media’s ‘Walk in Your Jersey’ event

The capital city of Ghana buzzed with excitement on Saturday morning, May 24, 2025. Hundreds of football fans, fitness lovers, and community groups gathered for the “Walk in Your Jersey” event.

This event was organized by Metro TV, Original 91.9 FM, and Original TV Sports. They partnered with the Graphic Communications Group to celebrate sports and wellness. People from all walks of life joined in this vibrant celebration.

The walk began at 6:00 AM from Accra Mall. Participants arrived wearing a variety of football jerseys. These jerseys showcased local teams like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. They also featured international clubs such as Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. The colorful display highlighted the unifying power of football.

The route covered several kilometers through the city. It ended at Centre Point Mall at Atomic Junction in Madina. The atmosphere during the walk was electric and lively. Streets echoed with drumming, cheering, music, and dance performances.

Numerous fitness clubs from Greater Accra added energy to the event. They wore coordinated outfits and led motivational chants and dance routines. Some even brought live brass bands to create a mobile street festival atmosphere.

A memorable moment included a visually impaired man who participated in the walk. With help from a guide, he completed the entire route. His determination inspired fellow participants and spectators alike.

As the walk concluded at Centre Point Mall, there was a grand finale celebration. This included aerobics sessions, light refreshments, and live media coverage from Metro TV and Original TV Sports. Attendees stayed to network, enjoy music, take photos, and soak up positive energy.

This year’s “Walk in Your Jersey” promoted health while building excitement for the UEFA Champions League Final on May 31 between PSG and Inter Milan. The event successfully united football fans across Accra ahead of this major sporting occasion.

Organizers plan to expand future editions of this event across more regions in Ghana.
