Dr. Kwame Kyei, the bankroller of Nations FC, spoke out about recent events. He said he would rather lose the title than win it at the cost of human lives.
During week 33 of the Ghana Premier League, hooliganism became a major issue. Chairman Kyei and club president Divine Kyei Boadu were allegedly assaulted. This happened at the Ampain AAK II Arena by supporters of Basake Holy Stars.
The match ended abruptly as league leaders left the pitch. They cited security lapses and unfair officiating as reasons for their departure.
"I was not happy with what happened," Kyei told Asempa FM. He added that he has followed football for a long time but found this incident unacceptable.
Kyei emphasized that winning the league should not come at such a cost. "If it means losing lives, then I prefer to lose," he stated.
The Ghana FA has not yet responded to this incident. A victory for Nations FC would have marked their first-ever Premier League title.
