I absolutely have no interest in weightlifting affairs – Nii Lante Vanderpuye on Ahmed Shaib allegations

Former Youth and Sports Minister Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has denied any involvement in the affairs of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation.

His response comes after ex-federation president Jerry Shaib accused him of using National Security personnel to push an agenda.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Vanderpuye dismissed the claims, stating he has no interest in the federation’s leadership. “I am just a fan of sports now,” he said, emphasizing that he has more pressing responsibilities.

His comments follow a March 27 announcement by federation administrator Seth Degbe Avayi, confirming that no official board or president is currently in place.

The leadership dispute has left the federation in a state of uncertainty.
