Iñaki Williams ruled out of Athletic Club’s Europa League second leg against Man United

Iñaki Williams will miss the second leg of Athletic Club’s Europa League semifinal against Man United on Thursday.

The LaLiga club announced on Wednesday that he has a muscle injury.

“Player Iñaki Williams has not been called up for the match due to a muscle injury in the common tendon of the right hamstring,” the club stated. They added, “His recovery will be monitored.”

The 30-year-old was substituted during Athletic Club’s league game against Real Sociedad on Sunday after 62 minutes.

Williams is one of the joint-top scorers for the club in this season's Europa League. He has scored five goals, along with his brother Nico Williams, who is also absent from the squad.

Man United leads 3-0 from the first leg played in Spain last week. This makes a comeback difficult for Athletic Club at Old Trafford on Thursday.
