Former Black Stars midfielder Rabiu Mohammed has denied claims of mismanaging his finances. He stated that he made wise investments during his playing career. These investments allow him to live comfortably after retiring from football.
His comments follow a viral video showing him working on a cocoa farm. Many Ghanaians praised him for this new venture. However, some questioned whether he wasted his youth and earnings from football.
In response to the criticism, Rabiu said, “People think I must be broke or mismanaged my earnings. My brothers can confirm my farming investments.” He added that he has never lacked or suffered financially. Community elders encourage him, and he feels content with his choices.
Rabiu retired from football in 2020 after a brief stint with FC Tambov in Russia. He gained fame for his performance with Ghana’s U-20 team at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup. His success led to a call-up to the senior national team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Despite facing injuries throughout his career, Rabiu played for clubs like Udinese, Sampdoria, and Paris FC, as well as several Russian teams.
