Former Asante Kotoko defender Atta Kusi has expressed regret over pursuing a football career, citing the low earnings in Ghana’s domestic league.
In a TikTok interview, the 32-year-old shared his struggles, stating, “I regret playing football. If I had learned a trade or focused on education, I’d be earning more than I did in football.”
Kusi highlighted the financial hardships faced by local players, revealing that he often relies on friends for support, which he described as humiliating. He advised young players to consider opportunities abroad, as building a stable career in Ghana’s league is challenging.
Despite his struggles, Kusi played a role in Heart of Lions’ survival during the 2023/24 campaign, making six appearances and helping the team avoid relegation.
