Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has hinted at seeking the support of former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi if he runs for the FA presidency in 2027.
Afriyie previously contested the position in 2019 but lost to Kurt Okraku, and he was disqualified from the 2023 elections.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Afriyie acknowledged that while he and Nyantakyi are not as close as before, he still checks up on him occasionally.
He confirmed that if he decides to run, he would seek Nyantakyi’s backing. Afriyie served as GFA Vice President from 2015 to 2018, succeeding Fred Crentsil.
His potential candidacy in 2027 could reshape the race for Ghana football’s top position.
