Kwesi Appiah Kwesi Appiah

Kwesi Appiah has revealed he was inspired to take the Sudan job in 2024 due to the unrest in the country.

Since his appointment, he has led Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, defeating Ghana in the qualifiers. Sudan is also leading their World Cup group, ahead of Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Reflecting on his achievements, Appiah shared, "Qualifying for the Afcon was one of the targets I set for myself before I signed the contract, so achieving it was something that was on my heart." He also expressed his desire to support Sudan amid its turmoil, adding, "Maybe through football, the war might even come to an end."
