Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien has humbly admitted he would choose Thomas Partey over himself at their respective peaks.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Essien praised Partey as a fantastic midfielder, acknowledging his exceptional abilities and describing him as "that guy I love and speak to now and then."
Essien, who enjoyed an illustrious career winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League with Chelsea, highlighted the generational difference but maintained that Partey’s impact in midfield sets him apart.
Partey, who broke into Atlético Madrid's first team in 2015, won La Liga and European titles before moving to Arsenal in 2020 for €50 million.
Since joining, the 31-year-old has become a key figure for the Gunners, making over 100 appearances and winning the Community Shield.
