IGP confirms participation in May Day fitness event and Hearts of Oak vs Kotoko match

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, will join the National Sports Authority’s (NSA) May Day Evening Walk and Workout. He accepted an official invitation from NSA Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

This information was shared in a statement from the NSA. The statement followed a courtesy visit to the IGP at Police Headquarters on April 30, 2025.

The IGP also plans to attend the Ghana Premier League match. Accra Hearts of Oak will face Kumasi Asante Kotoko on May 4, 2025, at Accra Sports Stadium.

The NSA's visit aims to strengthen collaboration with the Ghana Police Service. This includes health and fitness programs.

During their meeting, Mr. Yohuno introduced members of the Police Management Board (POMAB). They emphasized the police's important role in national sports.

DCOP Lydia Donkor from the Criminal Investigations Department praised the Police Ladies football team. She also called for the return of the Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games.

COP Iddi Seidu supported her view and suggested including sports talent in police recruitment.

Mr. Ampofo Ankrah praised the Police Service for supporting local football. He acknowledged their efforts in ensuring safety at match venues.

He also backed calls to revive SESSA Games to develop sports talent within security forces.
