Paul Scholes criticized Manchester United's owners, Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, for their lack of positive impact since taking control in 2024.
Despite acquiring a 27.7% stake and assuming control of sporting operations, United's performance has worsened, currently sitting 13th in the Premier League after a 2-2 draw with Liverpool. They have already replaced manager Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim. Off the pitch, INEOS has faced backlash for raising matchday ticket prices to £66 mid-season and eliminating concessions, despite the club’s struggles.
Scholes questioned how the owners could justify such price hikes when the team is performing poorly, arguing there’s been no improvement or tangible benefit for fans, despite Ratcliffe’s local roots and supposed connection to the club.
