Ibrahim Tanko has cautioned against dismissing Black Stars coach Otto Addo despite Ghana's poor performance, including failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Many fans are calling for Addo's removal, citing his inability to lead the team effectively.
Tanko emphasized the financial implications of sacking Addo, who signed a three-year contract earlier this year, and questioned the certainty of immediate success under a new coach.
"If you sack him, you'll have to pay. Plus, there's no guarantee that the next coach will make an immediate impact," he stated.
Though Addo was hired to rebuild the team after Ghana’s 2023 AFCON disappointment, recent struggles in AFCON qualifiers have overshadowed promising victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Black Stars now aim for redemption in upcoming matches.
