Inaki Williams, Abdul Mumin nominated for 2024/25 La Liga African MVP award

Ghanaian footballers Inaki Williams and Abdul Mumin have been nominated for the 2024/25 La Liga African Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

Williams won the award last season. This term, he has six goals and six assists for Athletic Bilbao. His performance is crucial for the club's UEFA Champions League qualification. Bilbao currently sits fourth in the league with 64 points. He also helped the team reach the Europa League semi-finals.

Central defender Mumin plays for Rayo Vallecano. He had a standout season before suffering a knee injury. The 24-year-old made 24 league appearances this season. He scored two goals, provided one assist, and contributed to six clean sheets. His efforts earned him the Rayo Player of the Month award earlier this season.

The Ghanaian duo is among 20 nominees from 13 African countries. Fans from Sub-Saharan Africa will vote, along with a panel of 25 African sports journalists. Other nominees include Reinildo Mandava and Flavien Enzo Boyomo.

Voting closes on May 14. The winner will be announced on May 25, which is Africa Day.
