High-level representatives from GFAF are also present, including Vice President Mohammed Osman Nkosi. A delegation of experienced U.S. coaches is attending as well.
The coaches include Prise Navarro Leone, Grimes David Michael, Thomas Ratcliff, and Chadwick Demond Louisville. The clinic aims to teach participants the fundamentals of American Flag Football. This sport is fast-paced and non-contact, focusing on agility, strategy, and teamwork.
During the opening session, Mohammed Osman Nkosi emphasized grassroots capacity building. He stated that empowering coordinators will help develop sports in Ghana. Madam Cynthia Wise, Deputy National PE Director, praised the initiative as timely and impactful.
She said this program provides tools to introduce something new to students. Flag football promotes inclusivity and is a safe sport for schools. U.S. coach David Grimes expressed gratitude to GES for supporting this initiative.
He noted that sports and education complement each other well. Reaching grassroots levels will increase interest in the sport. Day one concluded successfully with training on game rules and field setup.
