Jakob Ingebrigtsen's father, Gjert Ingebrigtsen, will stand trial next year for alleged physical and mental abuse of his son. Jakob, along with his brothers Filip and Henrik, publicly accused their father, who coached them until 2022, of violent behavior.
Gjert, 58, denies the charges and has maintained his innocence, claiming he never abused his children.
The allegations were made last year, with the brothers stating they still feel fear and discomfort from their father's "aggressive and controlling" behavior. Gjert was charged in April, but five cases were dropped.
The trial is scheduled for 2025, with the prosecutor's office seeking at least 30 days for legal proceedings. Jakob is an Olympic champion and world-class middle-distance runner.
