Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi leaves club ‘by mutual agreement’

Inter Milan and manager Simone Inzaghi have parted ways. This decision was made "by mutual agreement." It comes just three days after a heavy loss to Paris St-Germain in the Champions League final.

Inzaghi, 49, joined Inter in 2021. He has been linked with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.

"I must say goodbye to this club after four years," Inzaghi stated. He won six trophies during his time at Inter. He thanked the fans for their support through good and bad times.

The announcement followed a meeting between Inzaghi and Inter officials on Tuesday. An official statement confirmed their separation by mutual agreement.

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta expressed gratitude to Inzaghi. He praised his work, passion, and honesty during discussions about their future.

Inzaghi's achievements include one Serie A title and two Coppa Italia wins. He also secured the Supercoppa Italia three times while at San Siro.

He led Inter to two Champions League finals but lost both matches. They were defeated 1-0 by Manchester City last season and suffered a record 5-0 loss to PSG recently.

Additionally, Inter missed out on the Serie A title by just one point to Napoli this season.

Inzaghi's departure occurs before the FIFA Club World Cup in June-July 2024. Al-Hilal will also participate in this tournament in the United States.
