Despite pushing for a goal throughout the match, Inter had two first-half goals by Federico Dimarco and Lautaro Martinez disallowed for offside, while another Martinez goal was ruled out due to a foul. Inter also hit the woodwork three times, with Yann Bisseck, Marcus Thuram, and Denzel Dumfries all striking the frame.

Coach Simeone Inzaghi expressed regret over missed opportunities, including the disallowed goals and a controversial non-penalty. Inter could have gone top of the Serie A table with a win. New loan signing Nicola Zalewski played a key role in the equalizer, assisting de Vrij’s goal.
