Simone Inzaghi expressed disappointment after Inter Milan's 3-2 loss to AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana, where they squandered a 2-0 lead.
"We must first of all congratulate Milan because they never gave up," Inzaghi said, acknowledging Milan's resilience. He pointed to a key moment in the match: "On the move for 2-1, we lost a cheap ball when we should've been in control."
Inter had opportunities to extend their lead, but missed chances and strong saves from Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan allowed Milan to equalize and then score a 93rd-minute winner. Inzaghi lamented, "This is a painful defeat," noting injuries to key players and emphasizing the need for quick recovery with a packed schedule ahead.
