Former Asante Kotoko board member Alhaji Abu Lamine has urged President John Dramani Mahama to appoint a Sports Minister with genuine expertise in the sector.
Lamine criticized the practice of appointing ministers based on political affiliation, stressing the importance of appointing someone who truly understands sports and can develop effective policies.
He highlighted the role of sports in bringing joy to Ghanaians and called for a qualified individual to lead the Ministry of Sports.
This discussion follows Mahama's victory in the 2024 elections, with critics arguing that past sports ministers have failed to advance the sector. Mahama has promised to appoint his cabinet within 14 days of his swearing-in.
