Jordan Ayew confirmed as Black Stars captain for Chad and Madagascar games

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that Jordan Ayew will captain the Black Stars for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Ayew retains the armband in the absence of his older brother, André Ayew, who has been left out of the squad. This decision follows reports that deputy skipper Thomas Partey declined the leadership role, opting out of any leadership position.

The Black Stars aim to bounce back from their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, making these qualifiers crucial.

Ghana will face Chad on March 21 in Accra, before traveling to Morocco to play Madagascar on March 24. Ghana currently sits second in Group I, level on nine points with leaders Comoros.
