Jorge Mendes makes statement on Lamine Yamal contract – ‘We only spoke about Lamine’

Barcelona's 17-year-old star Lamine Yamal is set for a significant wage increase as the club negotiates a new contract with his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Currently under contract until 2026, Yamal cannot sign a longer deal until he turns 18 in July, but discussions have been ongoing for months.

A previous agreement until 2030 existed, but his rise to stardom has prompted Mendes to seek improved terms.

Following a meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, Mendes confirmed that Yamal will renew his contract.

The winger has expressed loyalty to the club, but his new deal may impact Barcelona’s financial situation, possibly leading to squad adjustments due to salary cap constraints.

Meanwhile, Mendes was less certain about the future of another Barcelona talent, Ansu Fati.
