Joyce Bawah Mogtari is a Presidential Advisor to President John Dramani Mahama. She has demanded a retraction, public apology, and GH₵10 million from Kwame Baffoe. Baffoe is the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), known as Abronye.
This demand follows alleged defamatory remarks made by Abronye. He made these comments during a television interview on Net 2 TV on March 26, 2025.
On April 3, 2025, Mrs. Mogtari's legal team issued a notice through R.O. Solomon Consulting. They accused Abronye of making “false, reckless, and malicious” claims about her.
Abronye allegedly said she turned down a ministerial post for a “stress-free presidential staffer role.” He also claimed she became “disrespectful to Ghanaians.”
These statements have spread across media platforms like GhanaWeb and social media. As a result, Mrs. Mogtari has faced public ridicule and reputational damage.
The legal letter states that these claims caused intense public commentary and inquiries about her. This has led to significant distress for Mrs. Mogtari.
Her legal representatives argue that Abronye’s assertions are baseless and factually incorrect. They note that information about her appointment is publicly available and easily verifiable.
They believe his actions were irresponsible and aimed at defaming her image. Therefore, they demand an immediate retraction and public apology from him.
They want this apology published on all platforms that shared the original claims. These include Net 2 TV, GhanaWeb, MyJoyOnline, Channel One TV, and Citi FM.
Additionally, they seek GH₵10 million in compensation for the harm done to Mrs. Mogtari's reputation.
