Richard Ofori Agyemang, known as King Zuba, is the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA). He has announced his ambition to become the CEO of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.
In an interview on Kessben FM, he shared his goal. He wants to excel in his current role. His aim is to earn the endorsement of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and life patron of Kotoko. “I want to work so well that Otumfuo will say, ‘Bring me that young man,’” King Zuba stated.
His admiration for traditional authority is clear. He also has a strong emotional connection to Asante Kotoko. King Zuba gained prominence through sports commentary before entering public service. He has brought energy and visibility to local governance.
His experience in media, politics, and sports makes him a credible candidate for Kotoko's leadership role. Asante Kotoko SC is one of Africa’s most celebrated football clubs. It symbolizes pride and heritage in the Ashanti Kingdom.
The CEO position holds significant cultural importance. It represents the vision and authority of the Asantehene. King Zuba emphasizes merit and performance over political connections or personal ties. This reinforces values like loyalty, competence, and integrity.
Currently, the club's top executive position is filled. However, King Zuba’s interest could signal a future path toward leadership at Kotoko. With his growing track record at KMA, he may be positioning himself as a strong candidate if an opportunity arises.
