Keith Mweemba beats long-serving President Kamanga to become new Zambia FA boss

Keith Mweemba has been elected President of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ). He received 45 votes at the Elective Annual General Meeting in Kabwe on May 9, 2025.

Mweemba succeeds Andrew Kamanga, who served for nine years. He will lead FAZ from 2025 to 2029.

The election followed legal issues that postponed the initial vote. A court injunction delayed the vote originally scheduled for March 29. FIFA, CAF, and COSAFA sent a delegation to oversee the process.

Mweemba won against Kamanga, who received 20 votes. Former FAZ Secretary General Adrian Kashala got 17 votes. Two other candidates, Emmanuel Munaile and Francis Hafwiti, did not receive any support.

The Vice Presidency will have a run-off election. Justin Mumba received 41 votes while Mutale N’gandu got 40 votes. Christopher Kasale was eliminated with just one vote.

Col. Priscilla Katoba was re-elected unopposed as the Representative of Women. This shows the growing presence of women in Zambian football leadership.
