Newly appointed Black Queens head coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, has set a top-four target for Ghana at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Swedish coach, who signed a two-year contract, has begun preparations in Morocco ahead of a friendly against the hosts.
Björkegren replaces Nora Häuptle, who left for a coaching role in Zambia. He emphasized continuous improvement, aiming for a semifinal finish at AFCON and qualification for the Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
“We have to start now and make sure we improve each day,” he stated. With coaching experience in Sweden, China, Cyprus, and the U.S., Björkegren is determined to elevate Ghana’s women’s football and make the team a dominant force in Africa.
