Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has endorsed Kim Lars Björkegren as the ideal candidate to lead the Black Queens.
He expressed confidence in the Swedish coach's mentality and approach, believing he can elevate the team.
Björkegren’s appointment follows the departure of Nora Häuptle, who left after her contract expired to coach the Zambia women’s national team.
The 43-year-old coach has signed a two-year contract until 2027. His arrival aligns with preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) set for July 2025.
Asante Twum mentioned that after consultations and recommendations from European representatives, they settled on Björkegren, citing his success in Cyprus and Sweden as key factors.
