Kofi Adams, Ghana's Minister for Sports and Recreation Designate, has proposed introducing a pension scheme for active athletes to ensure financial security after retirement.
During his vetting, Adams recognized the financial struggles many athletes face once their careers end due to the short-lived nature of professional sports.
He suggested encouraging athletes to contribute to a pension plan that would help them prepare for life beyond their sporting careers. If implemented, the scheme would offer long-term financial benefits, motivating Ghanaian athletes to save and invest while still competing, ensuring they can retire without financial distress.
