Kofi Adams, Ghana's Minister for Sports and Recreation, has called for a parliamentary investigation into the $245 million spent on hosting the 13th Africa Games.
The expenditure breakdown includes $195 million for infrastructure, $15 million for athlete sustenance, and $48 million for operational costs. Concerns over the financial management have been raised by the Forum for Accountable Governance and other organizations, urging the Office of the Special Prosecutor to investigate.
Adams assured the public that the 9th Parliament will address these concerns, referencing previous discussions that were unable to conclude before the 8th Parliament ended. He emphasized a thorough investigation process to ensure accountability. The outcome of this inquiry could set a precedent for future events and public spending in Ghana.
