Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has condemned the growing spate of hooliganism in Ghanaian football, describing it as a threat to the sport's progress and appeal.
His reaction follows a violent incident during a Division One League game between Hohoe United and Attram De Visser FC, which resulted in injuries and property damage.
Speaking on Channel One TV, Adams urged supporters to seek redress through established channels rather than resorting to violence. He stressed that emotional reactions only tarnish legitimate concerns fans may have over officiating decisions.
“If you attack officials, the focus shifts from your valid point to your wrongdoing,” he cautioned. Adams also recalled the tragic death of a Kotoko fan, “Pooley,” during a Premier League clash in February, warning that repeated violence could erode public confidence in the sport.
He reaffirmed the ministry's support for the GFA's ongoing investigations and called for discipline from all football stakeholders.
