Kuami Eugene to donate revenue from his rendition of 'Awoo Mawugné' to Omar B's family

Ghanaian artist and music producer Kuami Eugene has honored the late Togolese music legend Omar B. Omar B, whose real name was Ahiangban Omar, was a significant figure in music.

To pay tribute, Kuami Eugene released a rendition of Omar B’s classic song, "Awoo Mawugné." A friend introduced him to Omar B’s music. He admired their shared talent for writing, singing, and producing.

Kuami Eugene learned that Omar B passed away while his career was thriving. He left behind a young family. This inspired Kuami Eugene to create his version of "Awoo Mawugné."

He plans to donate all revenue from the song to Omar B’s family. “After translating the song, I saw its powerful lyrics,” he said. “I wanted to honor him with my rendition.”

Kuami Eugene emphasized that this project is not for profit. “It’s purely out of love and respect,” he stated. He aims for the song to generate views and funds for Omar B's family.

Omar B was an inspiration to many young talents in Togo. His third album, "Me, Myself and I," came out in 2019. Sadly, he died at age 35 on February 20, 2020, due to a heart attack.
