Stephen Appiah’s appointment as Vice Chairman of the Black Stars management committee reflects Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku's commitment to inclusivity and leveraging the expertise of former footballers.

Appiah, who captained Ghana to its first FIFA World Cup in 2006, joins a growing list of ex-players in key roles.

Former players such as Fatau Dauda, John Paintsil, and Joseph Tetteh Zutah now hold coaching and developmental positions across national teams and academies.

Women's football also benefits, with ex-Black Queens players like Fafali Dumehasi and Anita Owiredu Mintah taking up coaching roles.

These appointments highlight the GFA's strategy to build a strong football management ecosystem by empowering ex-players to drive the growth of Ghanaian football through their experience and leadership.
