Kylian Mbappe axes second manager after disappointing run

Kylian Mbappe is thriving on the pitch for Real Madrid, but his ownership venture with Stade-Malherbe Caen in France has been far from smooth.

Since taking over as majority shareholder last summer, the club has struggled, with managerial changes and a disastrous run of form leaving them bottom of Ligue 2.

Caen, Mbappe’s first club, sacked beloved club legend Nicolas Seube just two months after his arrival, replacing him with Bruno Baltazar. However, Baltazar lasted only seven games, failing to secure a single point or meaningful attacking output.

Now, with an 11-game winless streak and relegation looming, Caen has turned to former Nantes boss Michel der Zakarian in a last-ditch effort to avoid dropping to the third tier for the first time in 41 years.

It remains unclear how involved Mbappe is in the club’s decision-making, but his ownership journey has been far more challenging than expected.
