La Liga: Jude Bellingham to miss start of season after shoulder surgery

Jude Bellingham, a midfielder for Real Madrid and England, will undergo shoulder surgery. He is expected to miss at least the first six weeks of next season. The surgery is scheduled after the Club World Cup.

Bellingham has dealt with a shoulder issue since 2023. He has worn strapping during games for both England and Real Madrid. He missed two matches at the end of 2023 due to this injury.

The Club World Cup will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13. Bellingham will miss preseason training and the first part of the new campaign. This also means he will not play in England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September.

England manager Thomas Tuchel will announce his squad on Friday. There are questions about whether players participating in the Club World Cup will be included.

Bellingham had an impressive first season in Spain after joining for £115 million from Borussia Dortmund. He helped Real Madrid win La Liga and the Champions League, scoring 23 goals in 43 games. However, this season he has scored only 14 goals in 52 appearances as Madrid lost the title to Barcelona and was eliminated by Arsenal in Europe’s quarter-finals.
