Frank Lampard has been appointed head coach of Coventry City on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 46-year-old former Chelsea and England midfielder replaces Mark Robins, who was sacked after seven years in charge, with Coventry sitting 17th in the Championship, two points above relegation.

This is Lampard's fifth managerial role, following stints at Derby County, Everton, and two spells with Chelsea, the most recent ending in May 2023.

Coventry owner Doug King, who took over in January 2023, praised Lampard’s experience in the Championship and confidence in his ability to succeed.

Lampard's first match will be at home against Cardiff City on Saturday. Since his last role, Lampard has primarily worked in media before returning to management with the Sky Blues.
