Veteran football coach Abdul Karim Zito says his role at Kumasi Asante Kotoko isn’t important. He believes the club's goal is to win the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup titles.
Zito shared this during a media interview after Kotoko's 4-1 victory over Dreams FC at Baba Yara Stadium. This win extended Kotoko’s unbeaten streak to four games since Zito became head coach. He took over after Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum was sacked.
Zito mentioned he was initially contacted for a technical director position. However, he ended up as head coach due to Ogum’s departure. He emphasized that winning the double is his main focus, not his job title.
“I never knew I was coming to Kotoko,” Zito said. “I was lying down when I got a call about the technical director job.” He added that he had to take over coaching until the season ends.
“For now, let me work in peace,” he stated. “We need to finish the league and prepare for the FA Cup Final.” Zito prefers winning titles over worrying about his position.
In the match against Dreams FC, Kwame Opoku scored two goals for Kotoko.
